Mission statement
The Mission of Steppin Straight is to concentrate on formerly incarcerated individuals to find gainful employment by providing onsite vocational skills. Such skills may include computer literacy Microsoft, Adobe suite and AutoCad. Steppin Straight intends to provide a safe space with experienced instructors who will help to hone the participants skills. In addition, there will be case managers onsite to track students progress and help them with their portfolios, resumes and resources for the participants needs. This in turn will help formerly incarcerated persons get connected to resources for employment. Another goal is to provide participants with a step up from minimum wage jobs so that they can afford better opportunities and a better quality of life. We at Steppin Straight intend to ensure comfort, support, and inclusion which will help individuals be successful and valued.
Our society has come to realize that formerly incarcerated individuals possess many talents and are only in need of an opportunity to showcase them. These individuals have paid their debt to society and while on the inside have obtained trades. These are individuals that have talents that need to be shared with society. Most people have the best intentions at heart, but we all have some road blocks. WE will implement Micro-affirmations in our organization to support our participants. We at “ Steppin Straight Inc.” have the experience and dedication to help the formerly incarcerated. Those who will be operating the Steppin Straight program were formerly incarcerated. Dale Wilson, who was a participant of (C.E.O.) Center for Employment Opportunities, advanced to a site supervisor. He is now a housing navigator for another Non-profit working with the homeless population.
