Steppin Straight INC. is dedicated to empowering formerly incarcerated individuals by providing the support, training, and resources needed to achieve meaningful, sustainable employment and successful reintegration into society.

Our mission is to create a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment where participants can build upon the skills they have developed, receive guidance from experienced instructors, and work alongside dedicated case managers who help track their progress. We assist individuals in developing professional portfolios, preparing resumes, strengthening interview skills, and connecting with employment opportunities and community resources that meet their unique needs.

We believe that employment is the foundation for stability and independence. Our goal is to help participants secure careers that provide opportunities beyond minimum wage, enabling them to achieve financial security, support their families, and enjoy a better quality of life.

At Steppin Straight INC., we recognize that formerly incarcerated individuals possess valuable talents, skills, and determination. Many have completed vocational training and earned professional certifications while incarcerated. They have paid their debt to society and deserve the opportunity to demonstrate their abilities, contribute to their communities, and build successful futures.

Our organization is committed to fostering dignity, respect, and inclusion through the practice of micro-affirmations—small but meaningful acts that encourage confidence, acknowledge achievement, and reinforce every individual's value. By creating a culture of encouragement and accountability, we help participants overcome barriers and achieve their personal and professional goals.

Dale Wilson

Founder, Steppin Straight INC.

Steppin Straight INC. is led by individuals who understand the challenges of reentry through both professional experience and lived experience.

Founder Dale Wilson is formerly incarcerated and has successfully navigated the reentry process. After completing the Center for Employment Opportunities (CEO) program, Dale advanced to the role of Site Supervisor, demonstrating leadership, dedication, and a commitment to helping others achieve success.

Over the past 10 years, Dale has built a career working with nonprofit organizations that serve diverse and underserved populations. His experience includes supporting individuals who are justice-involved, experiencing homelessness, and living with mental health disabilities. Through these roles, he has developed expertise in workforce development, case management support, community engagement, and connecting individuals with the resources they need to rebuild their lives.

This combination of lived experience and professional expertise provides Steppin Straight INC. with a unique perspective. The organization is built on the belief that individuals returning from incarceration deserve opportunity, guidance, and support—not judgment. By offering employment pathways, mentorship, and access to critical resources, Steppin Straight INC. empowers participants to achieve long-term stability, self-sufficiency, and meaningful careers.
